Cognitive Load Theory
Cognitive load theory says learning is bounded by working memory, which holds about four chunks at a time.
Three types of load matter: intrinsic (the material itself), extraneous (how it's presented), and germane (effort that builds schemas).
Ask
What's the difference between germane and extraneous load?
Extraneous load is wasted effort from poor presentation — confusing diagrams, redundant text. Germane load is productive effort that helps you build mental models.
Quiz me on it.

Ask
Grounded in this noteDefine working memory based on my notes.
Working memory is the small set of items you can actively hold in mind. Your notes place its capacity at ~4 chunks — citing the four-circle diagram from page 2.
Where in my note is this discussed?

Explain chunking to me.
Chunking groups items so they fit into one working-memory slot — like remembering "FBI" instead of three letters.
Give me an example from a programming context.
A senior dev sees a recursive tree-traversal pattern as one chunk, while a beginner sees individual lines of code.
