The short answer

How is a weighted grade worked out?

Multiply each grade by its weight, add those up, and divide by the total weight. If the weights don't add up to 100% yet, that's your grade so far, based only on what's been graded.

Grade = (grade₁ × weight₁ + grade₂ × weight₂ + …) ÷ (weight₁ + weight₂ + …)

Example: homework at 92% worth 20%, quizzes at 85% worth 15%, and a midterm of 78% worth 25%. That's (92 × 20 + 85 × 15 + 78 × 25) ÷ 60 = 84.41% so far, with 40% of your grade still to come.

Questions

Not if the class isn't over. The calculator divides by the weight that's been graded, so the result is your grade so far, and it shows how much of your grade is still to come.
